Description
Hand knotted in wool originating from Turkey circa 1890-1900, this 9×10 antique rug is a distinguished Oushak rug design enjoying a unique blue colorway among several regal, distinctive elements of its period.
On the Design: Among Josh’s favorite antique Oushak rugs from our collection, he has further noted that the original pattern is mostly likely descended from Bakshaish rug inspirations, connoting the sensibility of the geometric floral depictions unique even among Oushak rugs that favor this style. Prevalent accenting hues include a rich red and gold play with notes of pink and white— both in the field and border—all complementing the majestic sense of symmetry and lending a unique sense of movement in their pagination few pieces of this origin enjoy.
On the Condition: This antique rug has some spots of wear, and could be restored to full condition for an additional $750 to the cost.
