Hand made with flat woven wool circa 1950-1960, this vintage mid-century Turkish kilim rug was created in the Bessarabian style, with this design rooted European, particularly Romanian, inspirations. Centered on a black background the vintage rug’s focal point is a group of five floral arrangements that appear in the piece’s center on a red background. A single pink flower with green leaves is encircled by a round garland of flowers in pink, purple, orange and yellow that are connected by green leaves. At the top and bottom of this area, two flowers are placed framing the center arrangement. A border of roses in yellow, red, pin, and purple are arranged around the flat-weave rug, as they sit on green leaves. A small red design frames the entire piece along its edge. This 7’8 x 10’ Turkish kilim would set an elegant tone in a garden room or solarium, with a wide realm of possibilities in living room and dining room projects.
