Description
Hand knotted in Morocco originating circa 1950-1960, this vintage rug connotes a mid-century tribal Moroccan rug design enjoying a marriage of some of the most celebrated traits of hand-made transitional rugs from this period and region. In addition to its spacious sizeāan uncommon trait given the small-sized looms used to make antique and vintage moroccan rugsāthe open-field pattern overlaps a muted, traditional diamond lozenge pattern more visible in the reverse of the rug, connoting the blue notes and their implication of the same pattern among this rich, lush burgundy red colorway. While the reversibility is a rare feature weāve seen in exceptionally few Moroccan rugs of this period, this marriage of the colorway with the Moroccan-favored pile texture cannot be understated in the wide-spanning appeal of this transitional rug; a welcomed addition to the Moroccan Collection from Rug & Kilim.
